THE CLOUD PLATFORM FOR MONITORING “ENERGY EFFICIENCY SMART DEVICES”

The on-board instruments make it possible to read and record the values of all the plant’s electrical parameters, processing energy-saving data in real time. The method used is based on the ESPRO protocol principles approved, after three years of joint studies, by ENEA (the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development).

The ESPRO protocol provides for a dynamic savings measurement: it is not based, in fact, on measurements before and after the implementation of energy efficiency measures but rather on a continuous and dynamic measurement of savings parameters.

We began with a quote by Galileo Galilei: “Measure what can be measured, and make measurable what cannot be measured”.

The ESPRO protocol takes into account continuous variations in the two main factors that contribute to the final result: the power source and the combination of the load mix. Only continuous measurements of these quantities, which constantly and significantly vary, make it possible to determine, with certainty, the efficacy of the measures.

The measurements are carried out every 15 minutes and, in the 30-second measuring window, the saving is frozen for 10 seconds, thus obtaining an actual difference between the instantaneous power and what the system would have used without the Enersolve installation. The measurement is repeated for the machine’s entire service life.

The total energy saved during the day is the sum of the individual measurements that repeat the method involved in the IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) 96 times per day and exceed the VDE standard requirements, intercepting the change in load mix sample by sample.

The platform is able to show the telemetry of the measurements collected by each machine as a time series. In this way, the user can analyse their behaviour by comparing different measurements on the same graph so as to highlight any anomalies.

Data is stored on databases specifically designed for logging time series, allowing rapid dashboard display or exportation to spreadsheets.
