Founded in 1969, Ortea is a leader in the design and manufacture of innovative products and customised solutions for power quality and energy efficiency.

Thanks to a network of offices and dealers on all continents, Ortea products are now installed, maintained and operating in more than 100 countries worldwide.

In line with the strategy of creating a global pole of excellence, the new brand Ortea Next is created in 2019, bringing together the 4 historical production brands: Ortea, Icar, Enersolve, and Powersines, in a single concept of integrated technology offerings. Renewal and continuous improvement strengthen the leadership of Ortea Next as an ideal partner for coping with the challenge that the current energy transition has imposed globally.

MILESTONES

1969 - 1979, the beginnings

1969 – Ortea, an acronym for “Officina Raddrizzatori Trasformatori E Affini” [“Workshop for Rectifiers, Transformers, and the like”], is founded as a third-party artisanal business that constructs electrical transformers and assembles current rectifiers with its headquarters in Monza.
1979 – Ortea enters the industrial market with its own brand. It designs, constructs, and sells electrical transformers, voltage stabilisers, and electro-mechanical equipment in general.

1987 - 1989, the decade of evolution and expansion

1987 – Ortea evolves: it transforms from an artisanal business into an Srl.
1989 – Ortea grows and expands: founding of Ortea2 Srl that supports Ortea Srl

1991 - 1998, growth and acquisitions

1991 – Merger into a single company: Ortea2 Srl with new headquarters in Cavenago di Brianza.
1994 – Acquisition of the first corporate Quality System certification under the UNI EN ISO 9003 standard.
1996 – Ortea2 becomes SpA, obtains the Quality System certification under the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard and becomes part of the Icar group.
1998 – Ortea2 SpA acquires Iret Srl, a company with experience in designing and producing transformers made of aluminium sheets.

2000 - 2018, internationalisation

2000 – Ortea2 SpA changes its name and Ortea SpA is founded.
2003 – Ortea SpA obtains the corporate Quality System certification under the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 standards.
2011 – Ortea SpA concludes the path for certifying its Corporate Management System under the standards: UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 (Quality), UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 (Environment), and OHSAS 18000:2007 (Occupational health and safety).
2013 – The expansion to approximately 5000m2, wholly covered, is completed.
2014 – Ortea SpA absorbs the production of power factor correction systems from Icar. The production area expands to 9000m2, covered.
2018 – The low-voltage power factor correction product under the Icar brand and the energy saving solutions under the Enersolve brand are transferred to Ortea SpA.

2019, today

2019 – Ortea SpA appears on the market with a unique proposal of products and services for power quality and energy efficiency of low-voltage electrical networks: the Ortea Next logo is created.
2021 – Ortea SpA acquires the Powersines Ltd “assets”, including brands, patents, and the complete range of energy efficiency products.
