SIRIUS AND POWER FACTOR CORRECTION SYSTEM FOR PASTA FACTORY IN NORTH AFRICA

SIRIUS AND POWER FACTOR CORRECTION SYSTEM FOR PASTA FACTORY IN NORTH AFRICA

THE CUSTOMER

Large food manufacturer with a pasta factory located in North Africa.

THE NEED

Power quality problems were being experienced in the customer’s pasta factory due to excessive voltage fluctuations combined with a low power factor.

These problems were leading to numerous additional and operating costs caused by plant downtimes and subsequent disruptions to the production line. The customer was looking for an integrated technological solution that could solve the power quality problems and at the same time function as a distribution board, without having to extend or modify its electrical cabin.

The electrical system in question is powered by two lines, each of which is supported by two generators that automatically intervene to guarantee continuity of production in the event of a blackout.

OUR SOLUTION

Once the situation was analysed, the technological solution proposed by Ortea was to propose a 2000kVA Sirius ±20% voltage stabiliser with dimensions 3600x1000x2300mm and weight of approximately 4700kg flanked by an additional unit, with dimensions 6600x1000x2300 and weight of approximately 4500kg.

The additional unit consists of:

  • Double power factor correction system of 700kvar each
  • Set of circuit breakers with distribution board function for both lines
  • ATS to manage the automatic switch in case the genset comes into operation

Many years of experience in the field of both voltage stabilisation and power factor correction systems makes it possible to integrate different technologies into a single, optimal solution, with advantages in terms of function, size and cost.

With this new success story, Ortea proves that it knows how to meet the customer’s needs and that it is able to offer integrated and optimised technological solutions that are custom-designed and tailor-made.
