DZN0 K9 1250 KVA TRANSFORMERS WITH INTERLEAVED CORE FOR DATA CENTRES

DZN0 K9 1250 KVA TRANSFORMERS WITH INTERLEAVED CORE FOR DATA CENTRES

THE CLIENT

A system integrator specialising in electrical infrastructure for data centres, involved in a project for one of the world’s leading hyperscale cloud operators.

THE NEED

In data centres, electrical distribution must supply highly sensitive and often non-linear loads, including UPS systems, servers, IT equipment, auxiliary systems and distribution boards. The project required transformers capable of delivering galvanic isolation, harmonic capability, voltage stability and thermal monitoring while maintaining high efficiency, controlled dimensions and installation configurations suitable for dedicated technical rooms. The presence of electronic loads also required a K-factor transformer with reliable thermal behaviour and protection against disturbance transfer between primary and secondary.

OUR SOLUTION

Ortea supplied 8 DZN0 K9 Al IP00 three-phase isolation transformers rated 1250 kVA – HE, suitable for 50/60 Hz operation, with 400 V ±10% input and 400 V no-load output. The configuration includes a delta primary, zig-zag secondary with neutral and Dzn0 vector group: a relevant technical choice when neutral management and distribution robustness are key factors for critical loads.

The interleaved core in high-performance GO M4, together with aluminium windings, helps balance performance, losses and thermal behaviour.

Each unit integrates:

  • insulation class H
  • thermal class F
  • temperature rise 100 °C
  • no-load current below 1%
  • primary tappings ±2 x 5.0%

The declared efficiency is 98.64% @115 °C @50 Hz. To meet installation requirements, the supply includes IP00 transformers for indoor installation with reinforced base.

The main benefits include:

  • Galvanic isolation to protect sensitive data centre loads.
  • K9 factor for better management of non-linear loads and harmonics.
  • Dzn0 vector group with zig-zag secondary + neutral for robust distribution to critical loads.
  • Earthed electrostatic shield to reduce disturbance transfer.
  • Thermal monitoring with PT100 sensors, core probe and control unit.
  • Declared efficiency of 98.64%, helping to reduce operating losses.
