13 75 KVA ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS TO PROTECT A DATA CENTER IN THE FAR EAST

13 75 KVA ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS TO PROTECT A DATA CENTER IN THE FAR EAST

THE CLIENT

The project was developed in collaboration with a long-standing partner operating in the Far East, involved in the construction of the electrical infrastructure for a data center serving a multinational company in the software sector.

THE NEED

In a context where service continuity is an essential requirement, the end customer needed reliable components designed to support critical loads and ensure high standards of safety, isolation and electrical stability.

Data centers host highly critical IT infrastructures, including servers, UPS systems, network equipment and switching power supplies. These loads require stable electrical distribution, properly protected and isolated from the supply network.

The main requirement was therefore to supply isolation transformers capable of:

  • ensuring galvanic separation between the network and sensitive loads;
  • helping reduce electrical disturbances;
  • ensuring operational continuity and reliability;
  • adapting to local installation conditions;
  • providing a temperature monitoring system suitable for mission-critical applications;
  • integrating construction solutions suitable even where specific mechanical and environmental requirements are present.

Particular attention was also paid to the robustness of the installation, thanks to the request for anti-seismic feet, and to the management of electrical connections through copper-aluminium bimetallic bars.

OUR SOLUTION

Ortea supplied 13 three-phase 75 kVA isolation transformers, with 415/415 V ratio, 50 Hz frequency, Dyn11 vector group and K4 factor, designed to supply the non-linear loads typically found in IT environments.

Each transformer was manufactured in IP31 execution for indoor installation, with a double earthed electrostatic screen between primary and secondary, class H insulation and compliance with EN 60076 / IEC 61558 standards.

The supply also included:

  • anti-seismic feet to increase the mechanical stability of the installation;
  • temperature control unit with 3 PT100 probes;
  • side extraction fans;
  • LED signalling lamps;
  • copper-aluminium bimetallic bars on primary and secondary connections;
  • primary-side adjustment taps ±2 x 2.5%;
  • seaworthy packaging for international shipment;
  • online FAT included.

Thanks to this configuration, the transformers supplied help protect the data center electrical infrastructure, improving the isolation of sensitive loads and supporting the operational continuity of the plant.
