A major international hotel group expanding across Africa, preparing the start-up of a new property and aiming to protect essential services from day one.
THE NEED
In many African markets, grid conditions may include voltage fluctuations, prolonged undervoltage and transient spikes (often linked to switching operations or lightning). In hospitality, these events can trigger trips or resets on HVAC systems, lifts, kitchens and laundries, and can also affect IT, digital services and security. The goal was to secure stable voltage and appropriate protection to safeguard uptime and guest experience.
OUR SOLUTION
Ortea supplied a Sirius electromechanical voltage stabiliser with a capacity of 1600 kVA and an output voltage regulation of ±25%.
The project includes:
- Total Protection Kit 3200/2500A featuring an incoming circuit breaker (QF1), an interlocked circuit-breaker bypass (QF2), and a motorised interlocked outgoing circuit breaker (QF3)
- Class I and II SPD surge protection devices.
- Commissioning and a training programme on operation and maintenance complete the delivery, together with digital features and remote monitoring capability to support effective electrical infrastructure management.
