SIRIUS ADVANCE 1600 KVA TO PROTECT A BANKING INFRASTRUCTURE IN EAST-CENTRAL AFRICA

THE CUSTOMER

A major banking infrastructure facility in East-Central Africa, equipped with IT systems, data networks, servers, UPS systems, security equipment and other sensitive loads that require a stable and reliable power supply.

In this type of application, power quality is essential to ensure service continuity and protect equipment that is strategic to day-to-day operations.

THE NEED

The local electrical grid is subject to significant voltage variations, a condition that can compromise the correct operation of electronic equipment and the infrastructure’s critical systems.

Voltage fluctuations and imbalances can cause IT systems to restart or malfunction, place additional stress on UPS systems and batteries, interrupt services and increase electrical stress on transformers, power supplies and electronic components.

The customer therefore required a solution capable of stabilizing the power supply to the entire infrastructure, while also managing major grid voltage variations and unbalanced load conditions across the three phases.

OUR SOLUTION

To meet these requirements, Ortea Next supplied a 1600 kVA SIRIUS ADVANCE 1600-20 voltage stabilizer, designed to ensure a stable power supply even in the presence of significant grid variations.

The stabilizer is sized to handle input voltage variations of ±20%, corresponding to a range of 320 to 480 V, while maintaining the output voltage at 400 V with an accuracy of ±0.5%.

Independent regulation of the three phases also makes it possible to manage load imbalances of up to 100%, an especially important feature in complex infrastructures where single-phase and three-phase loads can create highly asymmetrical operating conditions.

Key features of the supplied solution:

  • rated power 1600 kVA
  • input voltage regulation ±20%
  • input voltage 320-480 V
  • output voltage 400 V ±0.5%
  • independent phase regulation
  • efficiency above 98%
  • regulation speed 18 ms/V
  • no harmonic distortion introduced
  • 10” multilingual touch-screen panel
  • remote monitoring via VNC, Ethernet, USB, Modbus and Ortea XCloud
  • integrated automatic power factor correction system

The configuration also includes surge protection with Class I surge protective devices at the input and Class II devices at the output, an automatic input circuit breaker and an automatic power factor correction system using three-phase metallized polypropylene capacitors.
