A long-standing customer of Ortea, a global company that manufactures automatic systems to meet packaging needs in the food&beverage sectors, exports worldwide and has a recurring need to adapt its products to the technical and electrical characteristics of different countries.
THE PROBLEM: DIFFERENT MAINS VOLTAGES
In this case, the destination country of the plant is located in Latin America, where the operating voltage is 460V instead of the traditional European standard of 400V for which such plants are designed.
THE SOLUTION: THE 460V/400V ISOLATION TRANSFORMER
Rather than redesigning the system by adapting it to the local grid voltage, it is undoubtedly more efficient and economical to transform it to that for which the system is designed.
This can be done by inserting an isolation transformer designed to lower the voltage upstream of the system.
THE PLUS: INTEGRATED DISTRIBUTION SWITCHBOARD
Considering that this type of plant also needs to have a distribution switchboard for the different lines, Ortea, with its many years of expertise in power quality, suggested an integrated solution designed specifically for the customer’s needs.
The compact multifunction solution includes:
- Isolation transformer, which provides galvanic isolation and voltage value matching
- Input disconnector switch, to ensure maximum safety during maintenance operations
- Output switches for the different lines in the plant (blower, filler, capper, etc.)
- Digital input and output multimeter for reading electrical parameters
Designed and assembled with IP54 indoor protection rating, the solution is suitable for “critical” environments such as bottling plants (also available in stainless steel cabinet upon request).
