THE NEED
The customer’s test bench, used for testing electrical components with high inductive power, requires precise reactive load management. With a maximum apparent power of 500 kVA, the bench sometimes exceeds this operating threshold, especially in demanding configurations. To ensure safe, stable and prolonged use of the test bench, it was necessary to integrate a customised high-performance power factor correction system capable of effectively managing load variations and improving the test bench’s energy absorption profile.
OUR SOLUTION
The solution designed is a 960 kvar – 400V – 50Hz MULTImatic FH20/S series industrial power factor correction panel, designed for direct functional and structural integration with the test bench. The entire system has been engineered to fully meet the required technical specifications, ensuring maximum operational reliability and system compatibility.
Main technical features:
- Customised mechanical structure: depth of 800 mm and raised base, custom-designed to simplify connection to the existing test bench.
- Upper distribution bars: allow quick and secure connection at the top of the panel, facilitating physical integration with the test bench.
- Independent column protection: each column is protected by three-pole magnetothermal switches, offering a higher level of safety in the absence of specific protections in the customer’s main panel.
- Electronic contactors (static inserters): used to replace electromechanical contactors, they improve the responsiveness of the system while maintaining intervention times below the test bench protection thresholds.
- Optimised ventilation: the cooling system has been redesigned to ensure efficient heat dissipation around the power bars, reducing the risk of overheating.
